FS7: Multi Interface shoe

Been enjoying using my Sony wireless clip mic with the FS7's MIS and receiving power and audio signal without any batteries or cables.

Was wondering though, is there any way to have 2 of these for when you need to mic 2 people or have one clipped and one hand held? Can the shoe be split? Can a super fab receiver take two signals from different enabled mics? It there a way of removing the top handle but still having access to a MIS or two?

I see in the audio input settings there is a 'SHOE 2' option, but was wondering how/where/when/what that is.

Thanks in advance.

Ben, would you have some clips of audio recorded on this new radio mic set that you'd be willing to upload? I'd be really grateful to hear a voice clip without any added processing and I can't find any examples online.

I've used the older analogue-only Sony system in the past and it suffered badly from compander noise, so I've been falling back on an old Micron system I've had for years, but is still legal in the UK - but the idea of a neater system with less cables appeals.

Sorry - can't answer your questions, beyond saying that all multi channel receivers I've encountered are rackmount units. All soundies I've worked with have multiple receivers - helps with redundancy/resilience too, I guess.

Cheers,

Ben.

Hey Ben,

I haven't kept anything I've shot with audio so far as there have been a lot of fast turnaround edits going on. When I do I'd be happy to upload a clip for you. In the meantime my pro sound recordist friend (who naturally is a lot more picky than me) said the systems are brilliant for the money but the clip mic itself that the kit comes with - while perfectly serviceable for web and corporate - isn't the best and for broadcast he would replace it with another, but use the Sony rx and tx units.

Thanks - yes please to an upload when you can. Interesting your friend likes the TX/RX units. I'd use either a TRAM TR50 or Sony ECM77 if the signal chain on the radio is a goodun.

Cheers,

Ben.
