multi-camera shoot - DVXb with FireStore & HVX with P2 cards

Hello,

I'm doing a multi-camera shoot with a dvx100b capturing to firestore & 2 HVXs capturing to p2 cards. I am trying to multi-cam this shoot in FCP 5.0.4 and I would like to ingest all footage with same codec.

I am shooting all on three cameras; 4:3 / SD / 24p therefore what codec will be recorded to the p2 cards in the hvx's thus what settings do I have to do in the firestore?

Also I would like clarification on the 24p footage captured to the p2 cards are indeed real 24 frames and that I can apply the same settings to the firestore that's connected to the dvx100b.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

have you ever thought about shooting all with MiniDV tapes?
if it's SD and all going to shoot 4:3 in 24p maybe that's easier...
well as far as codes I'm not too sure. sorry

I would go with all MiniDV tapes just to simplify editing, even though you have to actually CAPTURE the footage... You can record 24p SD to tape right? It's only DVCPROHD24p that HAS to go to the P2 cards or other type of HD/computer right?

As long as you shoot everything in DV 24pA, and transfer properly (with advanced pulldown removal), you should be fine with the P2 and FireStore. I'm not 100% sure of the FireStore settings... but I'm pretty sure there's a way it'll capture with the pulldown removal. I've mixed tape and P2 - derived footage without a problem in the past; I don't see why the FireStore should make a difference. BUT as always, I'd do a short test run before the important shoot just to work out the settings issues.
