Mulitple distro CC ideas

 Ok, here is one for the DVD pros

I am currently working on a short film that will be sent to competitions as well as some DVD distrobution. The problem I am having is with the highlights. The film has a very surreal look, and for part of it the sky and all highlights are a very high keyed yellow. The problem I am having is that I can't seem to make it look good for both DVD stand alone players and PC-MAC DVD players, or anything that will be displayed on a good monitor. If I make it look good for the PC DVD player when the same disc is played on a standalone DVD player the highlights are way blown out. If I set the highlights so that they look good on a standalone DVD player on a PC DVD player the image is very flat and the highlights are too deep of a yellow.
I am very picky about the highlights, but I don't want people, especially judges to see the film to flat or with blown out hightlights.
So my question is, how do Hollywood DVD's accomplish this? I know that there is some latitude lost on a television set, but for the most part they look good on either a standalone or a PC? What is the secret? Is there a secret? or am I just expecting to much of this format? Any CC suggestions are appreciated, and I feel that posting in the screen grabs forum will help the most for CC ideas. I am pretty set on the look of the film, however comments of the overall look are appreciated as well.
Here are some pics

This is what I want the film to look like. I can make it look like this both on PC DVD players and standalone, but the color corrections are very different.

If I set up the DVD to look good on the Stand alone DVD player, this is what it looks like when played on a PC/MAC DVD player.

And this is what it looks like if I make it look good on a PC and play it back on a stand alone DVD player, note this is a simulated image that approximates the look.

Thanks for any suggestions that you have.

if you had to pick one. just go with the correction for the format that most matters for what youre sending it out for. but personally i like the look of the last still the best. the sky looks blown out in all of them , but the added contrast from the blow out to white makes it more visuallly stimualting for me. it makes the other 2 grabs seeem a little muted or drab IMHO.

is this for "awake" ? id really like to see that when its done

If you don't have acess to a monitor, make it look good on a TV (with proper colorbar calibration). You are dealing with a NTSC signal, and that is your guide. Converting it to a VGA image is a foreign experience to it, and should be taken as an adaptation.

Yeah, PC monitors have a different gamma than televisions do. So everything will look darker on a computer monitor than it does on a television. You're making a TV program, so make it look right on a properly-calibrated CRT monitor.
