MTS files to FCP

This has been brought up in another thread but never answered. How do I bring MTS files into FCP without the other files? Like the moron that I am, I only saved the MTS files from my earlier footage and don't have the original file/folder structure, therefore (I hear) that L&T won't work. So how can I bring those files into FCP?
Has anyone tried to mimic the file structure and "fool" FCP to use L&T?
Some have said that VoltaicHD will convert it, but has anyone mixed that converted footage with ones that worked with L&T?

yes voltaic converted footage works together with L+T footage in Prores although it converts to a slightly different codec, which somehow slows down RT behaviour drastically.

If you got Toast it has the best AVCHD to QuickTime -whatever codec you have installed- converter out there - and it doesn't need the original file structure. In fact it actually also has a library feature to rebuild such a structure from a bunch of .mts files to a AVCHD package, although I've never had reason to try it yet.

Great info guys. Thanks for the advice. I'll probably try Toast...especially since it recreates a library structure.

As I said, I've never tried it so no idea how well that particular feature works. One caveat though, Toast doesn't have any encoding pre-sets whatsoever so you need to write down your settings. The extra bonus is that the included media player (hidden inside the Toast app package) is pretty darn good.

No problem. The library feature sounds like a good feature, I'll try it out. Not a deal breaker if it doesn't do that. As long as it converts it so I can throw it in FCP, I'm fine. :-)
Thanks for the tip on writing down the settings....I would have probably had it perfect then forgot what I did. LOL

No but it does take multiple files, so you could open the folder, select all the files you want then convert them all with one drop

I would use Clipwrap or Adobe Media Encoder.
