MQ vs. PQ

O.K. - sorry in advance for beating this one to death but I've now read enough to be confused and would appreciate an authoritative soul to rise up here and help me make sure I fly right!

I purchased my DVX100A from a friend. He logged 240 hours using MQ tapes.

I mistakenly purchased a box of PQ. Should I just throw them out or is the difference not enough to be concerned about?

If I were you, I would try them and see. If no problems, use them, and when you run out switch to the mq's, how many did you buy? You could always send them to me for free too....

the box had 6 in it. Got it from the local panasonic dealer. They might take them back as well.

My hope is that someone can give a "yea I've done this with no problems" or "no way stick with the original as used."

Any experience here greatly appreciated.

Yeah, I've done it with no problems ;)
About 5 months ago there seemed to be an MQ shortage, so I was forced to buy a box of PQ's to tide me over. The person at EVS said that they would be fine, and guess what, they were right. Since then it has been PQ only for me. I have not experienced any problems whatsoever when I switched. At the time of the switch I had about 150hrs on my DVX, I now have over 220hrs.

same here, i switched from MQ to PQ due to a shortage... it's cheaper, more available and seem to have no problems what so ever
