mq 83 or mq 63

is there a quallity differ between the mq3 and mq83 which is better is the only differ the record time between the two.

Go for the 63. Panny is very against using 83s in the dvx and you'll get more drop out and less reliably recorded footage.

The image quality will be the same regardless of tape length, though. It's all digital.

The image quality will be the same, however, the tape stock quality is not. Since the tape cannot get any bigger, the only way to get more tape into the standard DV tape is to make the tape thinner. Like policar stated, it's all digital, but thinner tape is not as reliable as the thicker 63min tape.
