.mp4 files not playing in FCP?

Hi everyone,

I'm finishing up editing a short film I recently shot. My 3d guy sent me the files in .mp4 format. I'm having an issue with the imported .mp4 files not wanting to play in FCP. Do I need to convert the files into another codec?

Yes, they need to be converted into an editing format.

If these are from a 3D program, it might be good to ask him to render out to a codec, etc that matches your sequence settings.
