NYC ?

But why ?
SHORT ANSWER: - makes more sense for us money wise believe it or not. If we stay here we will go broke.

ADDITIONAL INFO: Now that the media has gone, a lot of people probably think things are pretty ok here. No one's life is in immediate danger, but its going to take 5-10 years minumum for things to get back in track. For an example -- we have few traffic lights and there are wrecks all the time -- you will see 10 or 12 in a 7 or 8 minute drive.

WE NEED PK HERE DAMNIT :cheesy:

LONG ANSWER: The GF and I were 100% -- even a little ahead after the storm for various reasons. Losses ... zero. But New Orleans has always been like a different country, and now its like a different 3rd world country where the rents have spiked to NYC prices, and since our landlord gave us 30 days notice so he can move into our apartment (housing is in demand) .... well ...

My steady gig was part time prof at Tulane (6 hours a week) and the university is not hiring part time for the forceable future. That plus teaching acting and acting in a commercial now and then were my income sources here. Now I have zero prospects except for the acting gigs - and that ain't enough in NOLA.

So in away we're almost like immigrants moving to the land of opportunity, lol.

We have lots of friends there having both lived and worked there and my GF's family is in upstate and she can triple her income there while doubling our living expenses (she's in non-profit admin and there are TONS of opennings for her there)

Until this year NYC had always been the goal -- that's when I was pursuing my career as a theatre director -- which is just a stupid frustrating thing to do.

But then I got ny DVX and I was pretty happy. I could make a living working 10 - 20 hours a week, make my movies in this insular environment, and when I felt like they were ready to try and do something with then I would take 'em some where.

But the GF is right -- makes much more sense to go to NYC -- just ironic that we were trying to scratch enough dough together to get back there for three years and couldn't and now when I really have no interest in going -- well life is full of surpsrises. :) We're using what was set aside to be down payment on a house and to pay for an HVX, by the way.

Damn poo poo headed stinky Katrina  :)
