Moving from FCP to CS5: External Monitor?

We have a Blackmagic Decklink HD Extreme card that we feed to an external monitor. I can't seem to figure out how to get this to work in Premier CS5. I went to "Playback settings" but there is no choice for Blackmagic, just Adobe Display.

Given all the FCPX drama we are looking more seriously at Premier since we already own it. Thanks in advance.

You must use a Blackmagic Design timeline. :) (File > New > Sequence)

If you cannot find any Sequence Presets for Blackmagic Design, install the latest drivers from www.blackmagic-design.com/support

BTW, if you are experiencing that the playback stops, go to Sequence > Sequence Settings and click on Playback Settings and check Turn Off Drop Frame Warning.

I don't think you need it. There's an article at Pro Video Coalition by Allen Tepper about CS5 and monitoring that does a pretty good job of explaining how CS5 has made external monitoring easier for us.

Even better in 5.5 really. You are right about not needing the external for monitoring purposes. I would recommend going out online and hunting for some good deals which definitely exist out there right now. It seems like you should have to spend to much money to get a good high definition display, just need to do a little hunting. I was recently looking for some dvd burning software and found exactly what I was looking for.
