Moving everything to the right of playhead

In Vegas, it's called Ripple. But in FCP I think ripple is something different. How do we do this in FCP?

In a project, if you have the playhead in the middle of the movie [timeline], and you want to move every clip that sits to the right of the playhead, and move them to the right...how would we go about doing that, without highlighting every little clip? Can we do that in FCP?

Took me years to figure that out. It's also on your tool bar. If you click on the sideways arrow, you will see options for double arrows (left or right) and use that.

I always understood "ripple" to mean automatically sliding everything down toward the end when inserting a scene at the mark-in point on the timeline. One should click on the "insert" button rather than the "over right" button. The new scene is inserted at the marked point and everything is rippled (slid) down by the length of the inserted scene. (this could be a length of black or a scene, or sound track element). . . or maybe even your coffee grounds.

Yup, the Insert edit (f9) works as well, but many times I have B-roll and bg music overlapping a joint where I want to edit. TTT works better, because I can pull the offending clips out of the way, make my edit and slide it all back into place without having to join the through edits created by the insert edit. Option dragging a clip from another place in the timeline will also 'ripple' and opening for the clip, pushing everything to the right.
