Movies shot in your area.

Springfield's claim to fame is Brad Pitt.

As for STL the best we could get is White Palace and The Game of Their Lives.

We'd love to have more stuff shot here though... the city goes NUTS for the attention. I know several people locally who are really cool and laid back about having speaking extra parts... then I know some other people locally who were just a face in the crowd and they think they're now film stars!

If you read this your mom is one of the cool ones Dave. It's another guy who pumps his participation as if he's Dinero. I told you about him already.

Hey Matt, part of Escape From New York was also shot in St. Louis after a fire took out a huge chunk of it. It was the perfect setting for it.

Much of Murderball (a truly great DVX film) was shot in my hometown. The Lakeshore Foundation--where the US quad rugby team trains--is located in Birmingham, Alabama.

If you own a DVX and haven't seen Murderball--you now have your homework assignment.

Speilberg's War of the Worlds was shot in my town.

Athens? I actually jouneyed there just for the shoot all the way from Ohio, just to see what i could see. It was pretty cool. Perhaps your talking about a different town.

We just stood in for Brad Pitt's Jesse James pic. Ironic because we were supposed to fulfill the same purpose for Legends of the Fall, but our city council decided they did not want the production to remove these small, non-indigenous trees...since then, the city and province has exploded in terms of film projects shooting here.

There's a stupid long list of films (not many good ones) that have recently shot in Winnipeg -that's right go ahead and laugh, but producers do it all the way to the bank because of our 50% tax credit.

Unfortunately, we don't get many features but a lot of TV Movies...C:7 for CBS shot here all summer. Last year they did Enron, The Battle of Mary Kay, Christmas Rush, and yes, even the Bobby Knight Story for ESPN. A crapload of stuff by Von Zernick Sertner (they have output deals with CBS & Lifetime) -no we were not the location of the silly Shark Attack movie (wait, I'm vomiting in my mouth)...

A huge list that continues and every day we become the ire of everyone because we're stealing work from someone else...well, not me. I don't do the service work, just my own.

Here's a small list of recent pics:
Capote
Shall We Dance
The Big White (Robin Williams)
K-19 (the soccer on the ice scene)
And...Mr. Soul (written & directed by yours truly)

Bodark's Bus Stop from Starman is about 20 miles from me. After 20 years, the carcass of the building is still there. It is right beside the freeway, so traffic stopped when they fired up the lighting in the middle of the night.

The train wreck from the Fugitive was shot close by also

"What about Bob" was shot at Smith Mountian Lake, Va (20 min drive from here)

Mr. Murry visited an old theater here "the Grandin Theater" to help with some fund rising they had going on. Very nice guy.

Hunter

A scene of Sopranos season 6 was filmed in the woods behind my house at this park reservation.

And War of The Worlds filmed near Staten Island..ive been there many times and under and on that big bridge that gets destroyed.

Bob... Wow! I've been a Canon man for STILLS my whole life... and I compliment great shots from anybody... but MAN are these pics a testement to Nikon. (Just like NBCshooter's shots) Did you take these handheld? I'm also wondering about the glass... anything special?

Excellent color, composition, metering, sharpness, saturation... I really enjoyed looking at these photos! I can't wait to watch the movie now.

They just got done filming High Wide and Handsome, the Will Ferrel Nascar Comedy, in Charlotte. They shot a scene in the studio downtown where I run grip at.

The funny thing was when they shut down the freeway to film a scene, and there was supposed to be an interstate detour happening around the same time because they were switching roads - and everyone got really ticked off when they found out the 30 minute detour was for a will ferrel movie and not redirecting them to the newly completed road. One guy in the paper said "I want my money back for Anchorman." Haha....

Shawshank Redemption was shot around my town. There are a couple others as well but I can't remember them right now. The Matrix Reloaded's highway scene was supposed to be shot in Akron which is like 45 minutes from where I live.
