Movies shot in your area.

Surviving the Game with Ice-T. Big blockbuster. Said hello to Rutger Hauer. Tried passing off our town as Seattle. You'll find it on TNT these days.

The Sci-Fi channel hit Larva was shot in the city in which I live. That's our biggest claim to fame ... that and we're 30 miles north of Branson. :embarasse

No, Branson's claim-to-fame is that it's thirty miles south of Springfield...

I live in Santa Clarita, and a lot of TV Shows shoot out here. 24 shoots out here a lot, and CSI also. They used my house for a CSI episode. Not sure if you guys saw it. It was called CCCHHANGES... not the best episode (had a somewhat offensive subject matter) But, our house looked awesome on TV!

We shot "Deadwood" out in that general direction, too.

Drugstore Cowboy
My Own Private Idaho
Stand By Me
Animal House
One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest (this old hospital really is scary looking)
Five Easy Pieces
Sometimes a Great Notion

(and a ton of crappy movies I won't mention)

Just Cause (Sean Connery, Laurence Fishburne, I think) had some scenes shot here.
The guy who -wrote- Groundog Day is from here.
Doc Hollywood had some scenes shot around here.
And Paul Giamatti just did an indie ("The Hawk is Dying") film here...

Gainesville, Fl. Not exactly a filmmaking hotbed.

Sad to say it but "The Beach" is Thailand's proudest movie moment. They love Leo so I don't tell them the movie sucked! I also lived in Seattle where "Singles" was filmed and was raised in Houston where "Reality Bites" was shot. "What's Eating Gilbert Grape" (a good Leo movie) was shot outside of Austin, where I spent many years. Oh, and the Clint Eastwood, Kevin Costner, flick "A Perfect World" was shot in Austin. It's actually a really good movie. Like some of you, I've only mentioned the movies I liked.

Some exteriors with Hanks & Ryan for "You've Got Mail" were filmed on my block and in the nearby park.

The production co for "Lost Souls" paid us to decorate our windows and then built an apartment set on the roof across the street.

Some TV shows, especially "Law & Order" and "Third Watch" also shoot in the neighborhood (Upper West Side of Manhattan).

Woody Allen shot some exterior scenes just around the corner in front of the West Side Montessori School.

Several times a year we see the big trailers set up and take over a block or two,

Raising Arizona? ohhh man best movie EVER! Lucky.

Customer: "Hey, do these balloons blow-up into funny shapes and all?"

Oldman: "No, not unless round is funny."

yes, I made the pilgrimage to Yarnell AZ where the ending was shot, great little town.

my favorite line:

parole board member 1: "you not just telling us what we want to hear are ya H.I.?"
parole board member 2: "cause we just want to hear the truth"
H.I.: "well, I guess I am telling you what you want to hear"
parole board member 1: "dammit boy didnt we tell you not to do that!"

I forgot, the movie "The Mexican" was shot right behind my backyard (right behind the wall). Yeah, it's weird to wake up and see James Gandolfini behind your house.

A movie just shot at our neighbors house. The sign for the cast/crew said simply "Waitress" any idea what it might be?

Someone who serves food and such in restaurants.

They shot scenes from Solaris and Gattaca at Otis Art Institute, which is right across the street from me. Michael Mann must've grown up around El Segundo. Tons of scenes from Heat and Collateral are shot all around El Segundo, California (near LAX). They also shot Escape from New York at my film school, CalArts in Valencia, CA.

I also live near a large boulevard by LAX (Westchester Parkway) that hardly has any traffic. At least once a month it's all blocked of for a movie. The section of the 105 freeway near the airport has starred in more movies and commercials than any other stretch of highway I can think of. It's in that car commerical where they throw stuff at the cars. It's in Heat. It's in Patriot Games (subbing in for a Maryland parkway), and a billion other things.
