Movie Trailer (Feature-Length Comedy)

Not bad. Didn't care much for the background color on the title cards -- pale blue doesn't seem to fit the overall image of the rest of the trailer. And a different font/style would probably be good too. Otherwise, not bad. Good luck!

"we're looking for big-squatch" LOL classic line
i actually liked the title cards. added to the quaint feel
the only thing that did bother me was the severe vignetting in the breakfast table scenes
but overall it looks like it's gonna be entertaining, can't wait

Thanks, Johnny.

The vignetting is bad. Obviously it doesn't normally show up because it's outside of action-safe, but since exporting catches the whole frame; there it is. Maybe I'll go back in and resize those shots to lose it. As of right now I don't feel enough motivation.

The titles match Tony's hat and I thought captured that softness of character.

yeah u're absolutely right about it being tv-safe, so i probably wouldnt worry about it either if you were already deep into the progress

I actually like how the titles match the hat. I got that when I watched it. Also, the acting looks pretty good too and it looks like an intriguing story. The only criticism I would have is that some of the shots looked too blown out...

Nice work, though.

Thanks, Chief.

I'm happy with the acting considering not one person involved had any experience going in.

Some of the shots do look too hot; a combination of compression making it look worse than it is and some of the shots actually needing tweaking. Color correction hasn't been tackled yet.

Thanks

Thanks

If the trailer comes off as funny, I'm happy; because the actual movie should play much funnier. To give a good sense of the story I had to keep almost all the gags out for the sake of time. Combined with the fact that I hate to give jokes away before people see it.

I had to keep most stuff in the bag.

Hey

Hey

It looks awesome. I think it will come out great! I want to know what mike you were using. I am looking for a new multi-purpose mic, and I like the sound of your audio. Maybe you ADR'd everything but it sounds pretty good.

Thanks,
Michael

No ADR.

Here are my two go-to mics. Outdoors I've been using the Audio Technica 835.

For anything indoors or anywhere there is a shallow echo, the AT4053a is my girlfriend. Awesome. It doesn't catch any of the sound bouncing around behind the mic head like a powerful shotgun will (like the 835).

BUT, if you can only have one microphone and need to split the difference for the best of both worlds: The Audio Technica 897 is designed for exactly that. A short shotgun for indoor and outdoor use. I haven't personally used it, but as you can tell I'm an AT believer and it comes HIGHLY recommended by some top pros I've talked to like Douglas Spotted Eagle.

I borrow those two mics, but if I had to buy one on my nonexistent budget, the 897 is probably the way I would go.

looks hilarious! i, too, would like to know what mic you use. - the images looked a little flat in a couple spots... maybe up the contrast a little and take the brightness down a knotch on those spots.

funny stuff... "NOT GOOD!!!" hahahaha hilarious, stuff, cant wait to see the feature.

I'd love to see this on DVD if I get a chance.

I wasn't particularly a fan of how wide a lot of the shots were. I'm sure content makes up for the more anti-cinematic feel the trailer was giving me. Not necessarily a terrible thing, but as a filmmaker I am forced to critique. Have you considered post work on the sound? It feels like a little compression and EQ on the dilaogue would really help out.

You should be safe with the vignette on the wide kitchen shots. It should be well out of title safe area when played on a TV.

Totally fair, but I'm a little surprised by the wide shot comment. Maybe a stylistic difference.

I'm curious to know which shots stick out the most to you.
