Movie Studio Platinum 9 and new cameras

For one reason or another I`m going to use Movie Studio Platinum 9 again.
And there`s this client with footage (50i) from the new Panasonic AVCHD line - HDC-SD800, to be specific.
My question: Will V9 handle video from this camera? Is newer AVCHD files different from the older ones?

it should see the footage just fine, but just like all avchd sources, you'll benefit from transcoding to an easier-to-edit format like .avi anyway.
