Movie Screen

Last night I shot a Hip Hop concert inside an old Movie Theater that has been renovated into a Comedy Club. Before the show began and during intermission, I decided to see how some of my work (Demos and commercials) looked up on the screen So I could promote my business! There is a Projector that is already set up that the Comedy club uses that is hooked into a DVD player. Now all my stuff was NOT shot with an Anamorphic lens however, everything fit on the screen and nothing looked distorted. It looked pretty cool to see my work blown up like that on a movie screen! The projector I used is the kind that is becoming popular with high end home theater systems.

Now I am also not saying that because everything fit on the screen that my work is true 16:9 either. I shot everything in 4:3 and on some projects added the letter box in post.

No your work is still 4:3 and the Letterbox stuff you shot depending on the size of your crop 1:66 1:85 2:35, will look different on the screen. The projector probably has the 16x9 setting turned on in it. and that resizes the image if you will to fit in a 16x9 format, and dose not distort the image to bad. But it is fun to see your work on the big screen. I use to manage a movie theater here and would hook up a digital projector all the time to see some of my work on the big screen. and to play a little xbox from time to time. Halo on a movie theater screen and sound is quite the thing.
