Movie Poster plugin?

I (like most here i imagine) work on my own posters/cover art for my completed movies and i was wondering if there's a photoshop plugin or technique people use to get the photos on my poster looking less like photos?

Here's an example of what i'm talking about. Look at the characters, they almost look painted.

Any ideas?

you'll find simply duplicating a layer, adding contrst, saturation and a wee bit of blur, and then making it's opacity 50% is instant sex that does not have to take more than a few seconds.
Thats whats going on in the portraits above.

I used to do a lot of illustration gigs like this. There's a lot to getting that hyper-real & otherworldly look; the contrast and saturation need playing with, selective blurring, and even the adding back of grain for certain looks. You really have to start with good, dramatic lighting (that FF4 poster is a little dull). Soft off-center key, and a hard or gridded back/side light. Usually you go warmer or cooler than reality.

The overall design is as important as the photoshop technique. What's going on behind & around the faces makes a huge diff on how dramatic the subjects become.

I generally add an adjustment layer with the darks, warm tones, and mids really boosted, black that layer out and then "paint" it back in with a stylus to add tonal depth and some 3D feel.

Try duping the base layer with the median filter on 2 - 4, then blur that a pixel or two. Add a layer mask and paint out eyes, lip lines, details. Play, play, play.
