1)
Guys what settings should I use (before shooting with my DVXA) to be able to produce DVD (on Vegas) which would show my film both in 16:9 and 4:3 (depending what tv the audience will have in their homes)?

2) Should I mask my LCD 4:3 to 16:9 and then cut the 4:3 to 16:9 on Vegas?

Just dont know.
Thanks,

Re: movie on dvd.

If you shoot in squeeze mode, you can bring the footage into a Widescreen project in Vegas (just make sure your capture settings are correct).

Then, render out your final product in Widescreen setting (NTSC Widescreen DV or the MainConcept Widescreen MPEG-2). Make sure your DVD project settings in DVD Architect are for Widescreen.

Once you do all that, you'll have an anamorphic widescreen DVD which will act like those you buy in the store -- it will be automatically letterboxed on a 4:3 TV and widescreen on a 16:9 TV (assuming the player's settings are correct).

Just make sure your project settings are "Widescreen" all the way.

Re: movie on dvd.

Thanks for advice,

I got one more question regarding dvd authoring..
How to produce one which will be viewable both in PAl and NTSC countries? Is it possible?

Thanks,

Re: movie on dvd.

Your first step would be to create the DVD region free. After that, it's dependent upon the viewer's DVD player whether it can play a DVD from a different standard than it is primarily made to play.

Unfortunately, you can't simply make a PAL/NTSC hybrid DVD. You've got to choose one of them, or author two separate versions of the DVD.
