GH3 mov files and Premiere Pro help

Just testing my Gh3 and when I shoot in .mov mode and bring in to premierepro CS5 my PC has trouble running the clip on the timeline.
Im using the following set-up.
I7 CPU @3.07Ghz
12gb RAM
64 bit
Nvidia GeForce GTX470 card.

Should I be transcoding or upgrading.

Neither. I don't have the solution, but my bet is that it has to do with settings or your computer having some software issues.

I have a i5 2500, only 8 GB of RAM and a (unsupported) HD 6870 and I have perfectly smooth playback in both CS5 and CS6 with the GH3 .mov files. Just import and good to go.

- Check the options. How many GB of RAM is allocated for usage by Premiere?
- Do a virus scan, defrag, etc. Is your computer running smoothly otherwise?
- Which operation system are you running? A 32-bit OS maybe?
- What is the speed (RPM) of your harddisk?

Running 64bit and a 10,000rpm disk.
Data tells me its 610mb for a 40 sec clip - is that right, it seems HUGE ? I'm running at 24fps PAL.
I'm using the AVC-intra 1080p24 sequence setup in PPro

If you're recording in All-I MOV container, it's going to run slower than the 50Mbps IBP. Try recording in 50Mbps instead and see if that's better for your computer.
Also, I'm assuming that you don't have any effects applied yet when you're attempting playback in CS6?

I run CS6 on Win7 and it runs as smooth as butter. i7 3,4GHZ, 16GB RAM, Sandisk 240SSD, GTX560Ti.
Had this computer since 2011 so it's far from the latest but works perfectly with CS6 suit.

Thanks everyone, it seems it was just the first big file and since then everything is OK - not sure why. CS5 is getting a bit dated, so I'm thinking an upgrade will help as well.
