Mounting of external accessories on the HPX-500

Hello,

I´m thinking of upgrading to a HPX-500 (from a HVX-200). I´ve tried to find info on mounting external accessories on the HPX-500, but without any luck. Not having seen the actual camera it´s hard to figure out the best way to deal with the "mounting issues". I do own a Panasonic LH-80 monitor, Litepanels (dimmable LEDs) and a Sennheisser K6/ME66 microphone. (I really don´t want to buy another microphone.) What options do I have to get these external accessories mounted on the HPX-500?

Your help is highly appreciated. Thank you!

Best wishes,

500 has a screw mount on front and back of the top handle. Sufficient for your LED light (front) and monitor (rear) - also comes with a mic mount. You can buy brackets that will screw into the existing mount hole, that has two screw mount holes so you could buy a shock mount for the mic and have it up front with the light if you didnt want to use the standard mic mount. I wouldnt use on camera mics for much more than ambient sound.

Hello Noel,

Thank you for your kind reply. You mention "You can buy brackets that will screw into the existing mount hole, that has two screw mount holes so you could buy a shock mount for the mic...". Do you know where I can start my search to get hold of a bracket like this? For the LH-80 (and monitors in general) Panasonic has something called a BT-mount. Could this be an option for mounting the LH-80 to the HPX-500?

Thank you for your help.

This what I picked up for our monitors:

I actually works pretty well. Although I hear the longer ones get a little wobbly.

Here is the one that I wanted but it's quite a bit more cash:

The Zacuto is sweet. It is crazy expensive (when you add in the two Zicro mounts, my Zamerican medium came to a little over $400). It's really nice and incredibly strong, and has a lifetime warranty, so in my book worth it.

I came from an HVX to the HPX and finding spots to mount stuff is no problem. I put my mic (Sennheiser 416) on the built-in mic mount, litepanel on the front cold shoe, and monitor on the rear. Works like a charm.

Thanks to everyone for sharing. It´s hard to figure out the "ins and outs" when the actual product isn´t available. I think I´ll be able to find my way now.

I know. I almost went for it, but we have 2 500's, and I just couldn't pull the trigger. And actually, the Noga is pretty solid for 1/3 the price of the Z.

yeah, if I had two cameras to outfit, I definitely would NOT have gone with the Zacuto. It's definitely a splurge.
