Mounting a screen to a camera.

Would anyone know how to mount this---->
vz_shoe

to portable dvd player with a swivel screen? I'm trying to get my screen to attach to my dvx but it's not really happening the way I want it to.

that would be for a hot shoe, but i wouldnt put a portable DVD player attached to a hotshoe...

I believe it would be just too cumbersome for the hot shoe, its gonna snap or bend it. unless its mounted, balanced, and untouched. Its pushing it just to mount a shotgun mic.

I kind of gathered that it was a hot shoe...I suppose that's why I was asking how you would be able to mount it to a screen, seeing hot it will go on a camera. It's actually made by varizoom for their screens. So yeah, it wouldn't be too cumbersome.

And my screen is similar to this. I just need some custom plastic molding to fit around and then have a female thread at the bottom. Any suggestions on where I can get custom plastics?

You said portable dvd player, not a screen only. Id say the varizoom screen weighs less than half a portable dvd player. I wouldnt put that much stress on my hot shoe. I must have misunderstood. I pictured this screwed to a dvd player then mounted to the hot shoe

i think that's what hes saying, he's just not understanding what we're saying...

I think I know where Car3o is coming from. I have a portable DVD player that actually has a second screen. That second screen is rather light and I actually use it as a reference monitor for composition. Not much good for focus or color accuracy, but it's helpful in its own way. I've also got one of those Varizoom screens, so I know what you guys are saying too. Either way, you'd have to either create some sort of bracket for the DVD player or just screw it directly into the plastic of the DVD player, which is a really bad idea because I don't think the plastic alone will handle the weight.

Uh, yeah, that's it. I don't understand. Varizoom screens weight at least a pound. The screen I have, also known as a portable dvd player, I want to mount, doesn't weigh more than 2lb at best. It's not like I'm mounting a friggin xbox onto my camera.

Here's what it looks like if you're thinking of a different kind of screen a.k.a portable dvd player. It has a swivel head so it can be turned around and then upside down.

That's a classic picture there. That had me laughing for a good while. Thank you. Now back on topic. If anyone knows where we can get custom molded plastic, that would be great. I know exactly how I want the design to be. Wonder if I'll need cad software.

I know of a place near me called tap plastics here in nor cal. They may have more stores.... That reminds me, I was thinking of having them make a case for my dvx as like a rain coat/ protection case. so I can run and gun with it, or mount it to a car, and be protected from rocks, water, mud... thats just been an idea floating around in my head.

That looks cool, problem is, the screen a.k.a portable dvd player doesn't have a female thread on the bottom I could screw it in. Otherwise that would be perfect. I need a piece that will wrap around the screen and then have that has a hotshoe at the bottom or a female thread to screw those pieces in.
