Mountain Bike Slow-mo: GH13 vs GH2?

I shoot mountain biking and have come to the conclusion that Canon's DSLRs aren't going to cut it anymore with all the aliasing.

So which camera for slow motion in a dense forest full of pine needles, leaves and wheel spokes?

Thanks.

For slowmotion GH13. GH2 codec is as bad as stock GH1 codec in 720/60p. Good in 1080/24p.

This situation isn't about the codec, it's about aliasing.

Steven, I'd go with the GH1(3). I've not seen ANY aliasing in its 720p mode, although it's very soft compared to the GH2's 720p mode (the GH1 720p is more like good standard def). The GH2 seems to exhibit the same amount of aliasing in 720p mode that the canons do in 1080p mode, although that's with sharpness at neutral. If it's turned down there might be an improvement.

GH13. No it is not standard def. With proper hack settings it's gorgeous while no 1080p it's far more detailed than standard def of the say the dvx100.

I agree with Blackout. GH13 720p at high bit rate is what you should use. Now when the GH2 gets hacked and we get 1080p @ 60 FPS slow motion in camera it will swing back in the GH2s favor. For now GH13 rules the 720p world. Make sure you turn sharpness all the way down and use a wide aperture lens. That will prevent any aliasing.

Blackout,

In scenes with tons of foliage (pine needles, leaves, branches, bike spokes), what Ptools settings would you suggest for my usage? I need it to be stable.

Thanks for the help!

The GH13 and GH2 both beat the Canons for aliasing. My point was that GH2 is going to have codec issues in a dense forest. If you've ever shot with an unhacked GH1 in the woods or a GH2 in 720 mode in the woods you know that the codec is the primary issue.
