Anyone have any experience with mounting DSLR's on motorcycles? Id love to get some shots on my bike with my tokina 11-16 but am very nervous. Ive seen some mounts that look like there for dv cameras and diy pvc solutions. any recommendations?

You are probably going to have big problems with jello because of the vibrations from the bike. I'd be surprised if the footage would be usable.

I've mounted my d90 to cars and the jello usually isn't worse than what's taken care of by a vr lens. A gyro mount or similar should work too. I don't think it works without some kind of shock absorbing stabilizer.

D90 on Bikes

It is possible to mount a D90 on a bike, and do so successfully.

I would recommend a combination of the following products:

Pedco Ultraclamp

Kirk 2" quick release clamp

Kirk D-90 L Bracket

Camera Armor

I'll be setting my D90 up on my tandem bicycle in a couple of weeks, and I'll post some pix. While a Bogen Magic Arm might seem like a good idea at first, practically speaking I've found that you want to minimize the distance between the camera and the bike body in order to minimize jello.

Also, invest in zipties, and secure the heck out of that thing. The more zipties, the less vibration. Ziptie both the Ultraclamp and the L Bracket. And don't forget to tape your focus and zoom rings in place.

One more thing...

One more thing...

I took my 2" Kirk quick release plate by the local machine shop & had them add a "captive stop screw." Kirk offers the stop screws on their larger QR plates, but not the 2" plate. The stop screw prevents the L-bracket (and camera) from sliding out of the plate.

yes, make it secure. the jello isn't caused by the vibrations, on a wide angle lense those don't even cause a single pixel of displacement, but the wobbling of the camera that's caused by the vibrations. tilting the lens up and down just a fraction of a degree displaces the image quite a bit. this is the same basic principle as the steadicam as well as gyro stabilizers.
