hey all,
so as far as I know, Vegas doesn't have any kind of motion tracking. Anyone know of any cheap (or free :-) ) plugins to do it? Thanks!

Sorry, no motion tracking plugins for vegas that I know of.

There are stand-alone motion analysis program out there, and they all pretty much output data to a text format. The only problem is that the program using the motion tracking data would need to know how to interpret the exported data. Vegas has no import function of this kind as of yet.

A program such as After Effects may be more useful for shots needing the aid of motion tracking.

It's said that Pinnacle Commotion Pro has the best motion tracking, though Combustion may have surpassed it in its latest incarnation.

Hmmm...well, AE is definitely on my "to-buy" list, but I was hoping for some kind of an immediate solution, as I don't yet have the $$ for AE. Thanks for your help, though...

Make sure that if you are getting after effects you get the "pro" version, as the standard version does not include motion tracking. Don't want you to spend all that money for motion tracking and find out that it is not even included.
