Motion Keyframing Problem

I have a layer in Motion and I want to keyframe a change in size.

For the first 1/3 of the time, it is a constant size, for the 2nd third, it shrinks down and narrows, and then for the final third, it retains this narrow size and does not change.

When I press the record button and make my changes, no matter what I do, the shrinking begins at frame one instead of 1/3 of the way through the clip.

I am sure there is a simple solution or I am missing some button or click somewhere, but anyone who can help, it would be appreciated. This is the finishing touch on my effect.

Thanks!

Apologies if I posted in the wrong forum. It seemed like Final Cut would be the best place for applications in the Final Cut suite.

Press F6 and open your Timing Pane.

Click the tab for keyframe editor, and look at your graph of animated properties. You should see your keyframes and hopefully find the culprit.

Ok, working with that. I'm getting in the area of what I want, though the tool is a bit crude. I wish I could just create the keyframe where I want to begin with...

But yes, this did allow me to get in there and at least begin to get things in the right direction. Thank you.

What am I doing wrong?!?!

I have applied a particle emitter (torch) that I want to move across the screen (starting partway through the clip) on a curved path, speeding up as it goes...

I can create the torch and create the path...

But every time I try to add keyframes for a change in size, a change in position, the motion path, etc...

THE TORCH MOVES TO THE FINAL KEYFRAME AND JUST BEGINS AND ENDS THERE FOR THE DURATION OF ITS EXISTENCE... AT ITS FINAL VALUES ONLY...

I am about to put my head through the wall!

Make sure you are keyframing the group the particle belongs to rather than some aspect of the particle itself- many of which are invisible components. Also behaviors are really Motion's strength. They can do everything keyframes can do and are much easier to adjust for timing- like Throw...
