I'm changing my most overrated director per better suggestion: Soderberg!
C'mon! Just because he toiled in the depths of independent land after being projected a superstar then reemerged with stupid J. Lo and Julia Roberts movies (aka my most overrated actress evah) doesn't give him 'street cred'. Both Oceans movies sucked. And Erin Brockovich???... cough cough, gag gag. Traffic is up there as one of my most overrated movies.
As for why I disagree with people's Titanic pick, that movie IMMEDIATELY got a lot of backlash after its initial 11 week run, particularly when it got snubbed a writer's nomination at the Oscars (the only category besides best actor where it was missing). In other words, people never thought it was great in the first place.
And George Lucas for director? No, that doesn't work because everybody knows he sucks. I still don't know how he made Star Wars. I'm convinced it was 392 of the luckiest coincidences in the world all happening at the same time that allowed him to make that movie.
Some good choices otherwise though. I agree with the Rodriquez pick.
yeah dont agree with PTA for director, AND I agree that magnolia was weak, But I love every other movie he's made.
one mistep stacked again 3 classics i can forgive him for.
And scorcese? holy crap! oh well
And I dont think Lucas or Rodriguez count. Does anyone here think Lucas is a good director? And I dont think anyone here loves rodriguez for his amzing directing skills, its his story, indie spirit, and commitment to share everything he knows and learned with the indie community. Anyone dissagree?
Wow is Crowe getting the hammer. Not a god but a pretty good actor.

For sure. I doubt anyone thinks he is a great or even a good director. He rocks because of his attitude and mostly how he got his start.

Let's get him boys.
Go ahead, check Scorcese's track record on IMDB. He's got a ratio of like 9 bad movies for every 10 he makes. Why do people worship him? Personally the only movie I like of his is Goodfellas, and that movie was all casting. Gangs of New York was a complete and utter mess!

How do you come to the conclusion that they're not??[/quote]
how about innocent untell proven guilty....id like to see a little support behind what people are saying...rather then just typing a name. to each his own, each persons opinion will be different, this is a highly subjective medium.
Citizen Kane?
John Travolta?
Pulp Fiction?
Liam Neeson?
Nicolas Cage?
Martin Scorcese?
Ridley Scott?
Russell Crowe?
I will surely stand up defend LOTR. Rarely does a book get transferred with the character and the world around it to film as you see it your mind when you read it. It was a classic literary book, and will stand as a classic motion picture. The entire project from beginning to output lives up to the hype.

I agree, brave. I didn't like them at first, but man have they grown on me. I know sit around drinking dr. pepper all day and play Dungeons and Dragons... and my level 9 wizard is going to come and kick your ass.

Agreed. Citizen Kane threw me off too. I don't agree (at all) but I can understand it, as it is one of the most highly discussed movies of all time, if you don't like it, then I could see it as being over hyped in your mind.
