Most Expensive Place for a Repair

So my DVX100a broke, and now im going through insurance to get it fixed, because the ribbon that goes to manual focus ring was severed, and thats a very pricey repair.
baically i need to know where would be the most expensive place to get it repaired so that maybe they will just give me a check.
Would panasonic themselves be the absolute most expensive, or should i look at authorized panasonic repair places?

ha i know this is an insanely random question
 
I doubt they will give you a check. Normally the insurance company will have their own repair places, or at least "authorized" repair places. They usually help you arrange shipment to/from the repair, and then receive the bill directly.

Since the insurance topic came up. Are there any companies that will insure my DVX against theft?

I don't mean prod insurance like during a shoot, but from my apartment? My renters insurance covers me but I was wondering if there was a company that specifically dealt with cams.
 
Your renters insurance probably covers it....probably no need for special insurance. Your current insurance provider can tell you whether or not they currently cover it (based on your policy) and whether or not they could cover it separately/additionally.
