Morphing stills

Hey guys, I want to see if I can create something out of morphing still frames. Is there anyone who has tried this and what sort of software did you use? How did you shoot, progressive? Or interlaced?

I'm an AVID user know how to use photoshop, but I figure I'll have to try my hand at after effects if I want to create something like that Rolling Stones thing. Thanks!

if you mention the begin part where the camera is turning around a person who stands still... is just a simple slow motion technique...
''overcrancking'' (shooting with a faster frame)

they used a high speed camera on a dolly to move the camera quick around the axis of the subject....
shot is taken within 1 or 2 seconds and played back at normal speed

professional high speed camera's shooting easy with 480 frames a second...
1 second of filmed footage is good for 20 seconds footage (480 frames / 24 frames = 20 seconds).
Each take in this clip is about 3 to 4 seconds, that's about 96 frames. A high speed camera shoot that within .20 second

You can also make slow motion with your DVX, up to 60% slower!
put your DVX in 60i mode and film for fun a dripping water tap
play the film back as 24 frames in your editor and you have slow motion...

trick is to get so much frames as possible within 1 second...
how more frame you can shoot within a second, how slower and smoother the end result will be...

the 3D panning effect is simple created to pan the camera around the axis of the subject,
the lens focused on the subject and you go with the camera in a big circle around....

put your DVX on a dolly and during the filming of the water tap go around... keep the lens on the subject...
how quicker you go, how bigger the effect will be as in this clip of the rolling stones....

I use sometimes this technique to introduce people in my documentaries...
most fun is too shoot them with a green screen and overcranck it...
then I film for example a street on normal speed and use that for the green screen....
result: a man in slow motion within a street full of people quick walking...

or film the people on the street with 12 frames & convert it to 24 frames...
see you will see the people on the street then running around the main person :)

try it out, its a simple technique with big results :)
