GH4 More UHD Testing

Testing for moire and post stabilization with an anamorphic adapter. Recorded handheld in UHD 4K, down-sampled to 1080p, back up to 4K for adding more scenes, down-sampled again, and finally a couple of 4K clips added straight to the 1080p timeline. All clips stabilized in FCP X, along with some color balancing.

Sharpness in camera was dialed all the way down (-5) which I found to be too much for this lens. Clips were resharpened in post. To me it appears that lenses play as big a part in choosing picture profile settings as anything else, and need to be considered when setting up the camera.

There`s a couple places where the image has a little "heat wave" distortion, which I am wondering if this is the stabilization in post ?

For sure. There were some clips that didn't take stabilization at all and this is not a panacea for all hand held work. But for a non-stabilized lens the process looks pretty good when it works.

Yes, I would never have guessed that was shot as unstabilized hand-held. Holds up really well most of the time.

...Is there a consensus on which is the best video stabilizer in post ? ( at any price on any platform )

I've tried the one that comes with Sony Vegas and was not impressed, I've heard that the Adobe stabilizer is quite good.

I've not had any other experience. I do hear good things about Adobe. Hopefully someone will chime in.

Thanks for still testing... And about that issue as far as aliasing concerns? What have you found?

I've noticed some on the 01:13 minute shot...

From post after adding sharpness?
Is it present on the native footage?
Only after downsampling to 1080p?
Also in the original 4K?

All questions I guess are much interesting to listen on topic... as you Jurek actually already know (E :-)
