more than one camera?

There is a filmmaker that was using someone else Canon 5d mkiii for a film but he can't get that camera again so he was thinking of buying one but with budget issues he was thinking of going with something else like the HVX.

But the problem he is having is that he is worried that if he change camera type after having filmed the first 20 minutes of the movie with the mark iii that it will be a noticeable quality difference.

What are your guys thoughts?

Yeah. It will look different. The question is by how much with which camera and how close it can get back to the same in post.
If it was a 70D for a 5DIII I wouldn't be too worried, but if you're going from a full frame sensor DSLR to a 1/3 camcorder, it's going to show.

At the very least he needs to match the sensor size. And if he can use the same lenses as well half the battle is won.

He needs to finish with a canon of some sort, if possible. (t2i or t3i) Like others said a dslr and hvx look nothing alike. But if this project is for educational purposes primarily, it maybe better to continuing filming on whatever camera just to shoot and experience the process.

Canon 6D will be a very close match for a lot less money, almost exact, you just have to be extra careful avoiding moire.
