More stills from the set of our film...

Re: More stills from the set of our film...

That does look like Micheal Pare (who I always thought was cool). This looks super nice. Nice angles and the lighting is superb.

Re: More stills from the set of our film...

It was indeed Michael Pare. He was a good guy to work with, a real pro. We had an unexpected and entirely unwelcome setback when the ambient lights at City Hall switched off at midnight instead of staying on all night, so we had to recreate their effect to match previously shot footage. Luckily we had already gotten the shot looking straight up the face of the building as seen here--that would not have been an easy one to recreate from scratch!

Re: More stills from the set of our film...

HAHA, looks like he's shooting direcly into the camera lens, and that guy next to the gunman looks like Keanu Reeves. nice stuff.

I don't think I remember shooting that angle, but then again...! If so, nice exposure--that's how I want the final version to look, but as we've discussed, I had to expose hotter than that for a "fatter negative"...

Too bad you don't have the stunt guy rolling down the stairs, that looked great!
Sorry, been out of town for the last week. Yeah I set the camera on the camera cart and zoomed in on the gun. Saw the dalies of the stunt guy. Looks awsome.
The mattebox is a larger size because we are not shooting our feature on DVX (We are using a pair of Sony Cinealta's with prime lenses). Big camera, big lenses, hence big mattebox.

well thanx a lot for sharing it with the " DVX" community

Resuscitating an ANCIENT thread here to point out that the film in question we were talking about here, The Perfect Sleep, is in fact finally in release, currently held over at the Laemmele Sunset 5 through Thursday the 26th, starting the next day at the Quad Cinema in NYC for a week run. Details at the website, www.theperfectsleep.com. A great trailer is up there also.

Looking at the dates on this thread really points out how long a road it can be to make a feature and get it shown!!!

As much as modesty will permit, I will say that the film looks great and the reviews have been very positive in that regard.

Finally viewable by the masses after the theatrical run this spring, "The Perfect Sleep" is now available on DVD. Buy or rent today (Netflix etc).

The website is listed in previous post but there is also an HD version of the trailer here.

I love the flick and all its big bugdet but why is this thread in the DVX clips section?
It seems to have stolen the limelight from all the others forum members who've posted their DVX footage here.

How exactly has it "stolen the limelight"? Plenty of bandwidth for everyone, no?

If you look back only a few posts, this thread was started 4 1/2 years ago by Tim who works at the post house that co-produced the film. I've included the updates on release here only because at the time people were saying things like "I look forward to seeing it". I can't exactly see how my two posts regarding the release have somehow ruined things for other people and their DVX footage?

At the time, I myself owned a DVX and was fairly active on this board; things have changed a lot around here since then, many new topics and the scope have moved beyond the DVX itself to embrace other technologies and aspects of filmmaking. I suppose this thread could be moved by a moderator into another area, I don't have the power to do that.

Finally, the budget of this film was only "big" by no-budget filmmaking standards. This was an extremely indie production, believe me!

Looks fantastic! Thanks for updating this thread, Charles. I've AC'd a couple of F900 shows and I'm always impressed that the same camera we use in reality does such a good job for narratives.

Best,

I don't know what happened to those pix, I guess the 1's and 0's fell apart over the past few years. Plenty of frame grabs from the movie itself up at theperfectsleep.com.
