More problems: no audio! Help!

Here are a few clips that did not turn up with audio. Other clips were shot before and after these and still retained audio as normal. Anyone know what causes this?

The first two scenes with the black dresses were shot with one of the scene files that are recommended on the HVX Bootcamp dvd but I didn't label them so I don't know which ones they were.
The next three (with the white shirt) were shot using 'Normal Low Light', 'Filmic', and 'War Epic' scene files. The next three (with the white and orange dresses) were shot using 'Filmic', 'Soft Black', and 'War Epic'. The last three (with the blue sparkles dress) were shot with 'Normal Low Light', 'Filmic', and 'Soft Black' scene files.

The only thing in the Scene File settings that would cause audio not to be recorded would be if you're shooting 24pN or 30pN and you're using a variable frame rate other than 24 or 30.

Other reasons the audio might not record is because the potentiometers are turned down too low, or because you have a switch set incorrectly -- Line/Mic, or the audio input switches.

On the software side, you will not have audio if you transferred your cards incorrectly and did not copy the AUDIO folder. The MXF files in the VIDEO folder have no audio.

Or, with Raylight, at default you only have two of the four audio tracks on your timeline, and you may have picked the wrong two. This may also have to do with input settings on the camera; if you had no external microphone but set your HVX audio channels 1 and 2 to the XLR inputs, the internal mic would have been recorded to channels 3 and 4.
 
Thank you for your suggestions! I don't see any of them as being the likely problem because the only thing I changed between any of them was the scene files or turning the camera off and on. Most recorded the audio fine, but others did not. I shot four sets of eight scene files. I forgot to label the first set but two out of the 8 didn't record the audio. I immediately shot another set of eight with numbers 5-8 not recording audio though 1-4 did. On the third set of eight, numbers 6-8 didn't record audio but 1-5 did. And on the fourth set, numbers 5-7 didn't record audio but 1-4 did.
They were all shot with the same speed and frame rates, I didn't change any of that.
I did not touch any of the audio switches at all and only used the internal mic.
I copied all the files the same. There's nothing I did different with any of them.
And with Raylight I didn't change any of the settings so they were all converted at the same time with the same settings.
It is highly unlikely that I accidentally hit any switches because I would have had to do it several times without noticing, setting it wrong by accident and then resetting it again by accident.
 
When you say they were "converted" all at the same time, what does that mean? Describe exactly what you did with Raylight.
 
I meant when they were converted to the other file type so that they would work with Sony Vegas. I put them all in the RayMaker at the same time with all the same settings.
 
Don't do that. Just go into to the VIDEO folder and bring the MXF files into the Vegas timeline. Don't use RayMaker.
 
The files won't show up without using Raymaker. My Sonny Vegas software doesn't read the clips without it. I've tried it.
 
If you're using Raylight Ultra, they absolutely should. (Unless you're using Vegas 12, in which case you don't need Raylight to use P2 MXFs.)

They may not if you installed Vegas AFTER you installed Raylight, though. Try uninstalling Raylight and then re-installing it, and then see if the MXFs will work in Vegas.
 
After I uninstall Raylight, how do I re-install it? Do you know if I can go to the website and use the same code again or would I have to get a new code?
 
As long as you didn't/don't delete the .exe file you downloaded, you can reinstall using that. You'll find the uninstaller in the Raylight folder.
 
Try in your Downloads folder.

Mine was called "auQJSiBdax.exe" -- yours probably has a similar group of random letters.

If you can't find it, search for " *.exe "

You can always get a new copy by contacting DVFilm, of course, or going through their Update mechanism on their website.
 
Uninstalling and re-installing Raylight didn't bring back the audio.
I'm going to reshoot the clips and see what happens. It will be interesting to know if it has any problems with audio this next time. But I won't put them through the Raymaker and I'll see if they work with Vegas anyway.
 
The reinstall won't bring back the audio in the AVI files you made in RayMaker. What it should do is let you use the original files in Vegas without converting them.

What you should do is take the original MXF files from the card -- your original HVX footage, not the files you made with RayMaker -- and see if they work in Vegas now. And then, see if you get the audio THAT way.
 
I just tried it and the MFX files are not working with Sony. They won't even appear as an option when I go to 'Import Media'. Only the AVI files appear. And dragging the MFX files onto the timeline doesn't work either. It says that the files could not be opened.
