GH4 More monitor woes with the GH4

I have a 7" NEWAY CL76HO-X and a Lilliput for on-camera monitoring, both previously working with my GH2. I'm getting a signal on both from my GH4, BUT as soon as I hit record, the camera lcd blacks out and a revolving hour glass appears, with the message 'please wait' - this happens using either monitor, and I have to power the camera down to stop the hour glass message. I have the same lockup connecting the camera to an HD flatscreen and trying to record (the flatscreen recognises the camera output as 1080 50p, even though I'm set to record 25p)

Viera link is off, I'm set to 2d not 3d, hdmi output is set to 8bit, and 4k downconvert is off. Trying to monitor 1080 25p 200mbs mode.

Anybody experiencing the same? If I can't even do a simple feed to my client monitor on a shoot, preferably without the camera locking up, then this thing is about as useful as a chocolate fireguard. Thanks in advance for any help.

Relief! Here's the solution - assign some of the avchd modes and record a couple of times. Then go back to the 200mbs .mov mode, and it should now work. Seems to have 'cleared it's throat'..
