More Foolish Green Screen

Phenomenal title sequence w/ the blood. It was creepy and atmospheric.

I've never done green screen so I am sure it is really hard, but the effect here seemed a little too obvious.

What did you do the Title sequence with?

Chris

Interesting film, I'm not sure what it's all about but it seemed like a unique slave world. I liked it, and your lead actor looks kind of like Gordon Freeman! (from Half Life)

The title was done using a bottle of blood, a sheet of white paper, and a sheet protector. I put the paper into the protector, pointed the camera down at it, dumped the blood onto the sheet and blew on it with a straw. In post I keyed out the white and wallah one half, the other bits came from dripping onto the sheet, the last was while washing the sheet off we filmed it and keyed the sink out!

Spidey try it now, I fixed the link to the QT file.

He does look like Freeman, should have been an orange suit. Basically I have a synopsis about the film on the projects page at www.negativeimages.com. If your curious enough go into the flash site/current projects.

Curious ... when you say keyed out the white ... can you explain exactly what you are doing?

Really like the intro, too. Splendid!

yeah that intro seriously impressed me. espescially knowing that you did it in such a low budget and practical manner. nice job.

Using Vegas 5, I placed the video file of the camera panned down on the blood using a three point light system to divert any shadows from my hand. The footage was shot, dumped into vegas, the blood was sitting on a white sheet of paper with a sheet protector so that it would'nt bleed through and cause a stain. (STAINO) anyway... I used the video filter Chroma Key or; Color Replace, in other words instead of using a standard green or blue screen I used the white paper as my color canvas and removed it causing a black transparency.

This was done several times over, and placed on top of each other in seperate time lines. I intended on using the blood to splat the names into the intro, however the footage wasnt fast enough or equal to the text, so I improvised the best I could.

I really enjoyed this on all levels; from the opening title sequence to the conceptual mood you established. This reminded me of Lucas' THX meets Romero's The Crazies; which is a good thing. Very disturbing imagery but compelling enough to watch.

Your choice of Score served only to support the visuals. It was a little rough in the comp/camera area and I would likes to have seen the color correction designed more for the background plates but I understand this was merely a test of sorts.

Great job. Keep it coming!

I wasn't able to watch the whole thing because WMP couldn't keep up with the .wmv. I'll try to check out the .mov. What I got of the opening titles is cool -- reminds me a little bit of the Fear and Loathing title sequence.

Nice done, some greenscreen spill in begining, also motion tracking little bit off, but those are hardest parts to get right.
Over all, solid , intresting project. Obuvisly lots of excelent work in there.

Thanks for explaining how you did the title sequence.

I love when really cool special effects are achieved through low tech means.

Very creative and inventive - well done!
