More AF100 footage...

Comparing an HVX200A/HPX170 and AF100 to an EX1 reveals that the latter offers more image control. EX1 has detail white and black settings so the edge can be made much thinner and more subtle, while still allowing some amount of edge enhancement, the Panasonic cameras don't have that kind of detail control. The knee circuit also offers more control, ditto matrix. There is also a black stretch. Overall, EX1 feels more like a higher end camera as far as menu control.

My concern with the AF100 is that the detail controls are fairly rudimentary, ditto knee control, ie; select Cine V or D and you loose the Knee high, mid and low settings found in the video gammas(at least with the HVX200A/HPX170/500). I keep reading that we just need to be educated on which gamma to use, but Cine D is the right one if wanting the flattest image with the most dynamic range, the only other Cine gamma is V, which I find to be too contrasty and doesn't offer quite as much DR. It seems like the best approach for the detail circuit with the AF100 is to turn it down as far as possible. Will this be off or just greatly reduced? Even greatly reduced can cause unwanted artifacts.

The HPX170 does offer finer control than HVX200 or even 200A, albeit with the same parameters mainly, but I was hoping for better with the AF100, something more like an EX1.

I was under the impression the AF100 DID have white and black adjustments?
