i'm working on a feature that is centered around some journalist and has a bit of an alien thing in it. which makes me a little concerned as to where your story is leading....
i've come across 3 stories which are similar to mine after i wrote it. one was an Agatha Christie novel i hate how this keeps on happening. it's making me a little paranoid. i think Agatha Christie traveled to the future and stole my idea
but your short films are awesome! they look really good and the little extras like the girl in the car and the bike are great.
how are you focussing with just the LCD/viewfinder?
are you using a flipping tool like a mirror or paperclip?
do have a method of getting critical focus or is it all by eye?
thanks..synchronicity is wild, isn't it? I'd love to see your feature when you're done..
To focus, I'm just using the viewfinder, staring at an upside down image - It took me about a day of shooting to get used to that, I usually use my right eye to look at the upside down image and the left eye to see what I'm capturing, using my left eye helps also when things go into motion because staring at an upside image severly screws your X-Y axis orientation - When my character runs to the right, my instinct would be to pan to the left, losing the shot..
It's a pain in the ass though, I constantly use the Focus Assist to help me, focus on the grain first, then focus on my subject, if I need to rack, I'll get a general idea of how far I need to turn the ring, etc. FUN
I think one whole series will run 6 episodes, then we'll break for a month and decide whether to do a second season or start something new - I was thinking about the feature idea, I don't know yet, it'd be cool though to have a feature after a year of shooting once a month..
With your skills you should do a feature! I saw part II, nice work. What was really great about it is that part i and II match (you don't get a lot of that). Editing & shot choice, in my opinion, was better then the first. Keep it up, can't wait for 3,4,5,&6
I'm releasing this to you 2 hours early - If you're interested in the series, PLEASE be sure to cast your vote at the website, www.itsallinyourhands.com
Voting ENDS April 16, upon which a new script will be written based on your input
