SHORT: Monster

Hey all, just sharing a short film I created about a week ago with some stunt peers of mine. Just wanted to try something a bit moodier and brutal, though the action itself isn't very realistic as you'll see. :) Anyhow, hope you enjoy our efforts and have fun with it! View here:

LOVE it!

GREAT edit flow! GREAT fight choreography!

GREAT looking cast.

I LOOOVE the slanted angle shots in the beginning...especially the crouching guy..no one does much of that very well anymore.

Too much fake blood - those scenes early on would have felt scarier without it.
They kinda cheapened it by being over done and distracting.

Regarding the SFX - many of the crunches were too crunchy and high-frequency exaggerated - made it sound not real.
Same goes for many of the splats - way to overly splatty to be realistic or even hyper realistic like Tarrantino. When the SFX go that far they stick out as sounding "pasted on top" of everything.

The scene in the small collapsed room with the concrete floor was KILLER. The SFX were a bit more tamed down so it let me absorb the scene as more of a complete whole.

Really, after watching this I felt your guys must be L.A. guys with some screen experience. Maybe they are..
But you're in Chi?

Well....you one damn spidery Mexican, that's for sure.
I would hire you for fight scenes in a minute.

Thank you for watching! All very good points, and I'm glad you pointed them out. Definitely things to work on for the next time and to keep in mind. :)

We are stunt performers that did this short in LA, but i am originally from Chicago, and divide my time working between both cities. I'm glad you enjoyed their efforts!

Thanks again for your time and critique, much appreciated!
