Monopods with AF100

Flying across country next month for my niece's wedding so offered to record it. I'm not particularly excited about dragging the Vinten Vision tripod/sticks along but thought maybe a monopod would work. Any thoughts, recommendations?

I'd go with the tripod...or just a should rig. I was tried shooting with a monopod and it was all over the place as I tried to pull focus, etc. (horizontal motion)

In general I think monopods are awful, they're a step above handheld but not much of a step. When faced with a situation where I needed a small, featherweight, simple stabilizing solution, I went with the SteddiePod, and frankly it's pretty great. It can be used as a monopod, as a sort-of-tripod, and as a handheld glidecam-type of stabilizer, has its own fluid head, includes a travel case... it's not a great tripod or a great monopod or a great stabilizer, but the monopod/stabilizer/tripod you have with you beats the one you don't, and it does it all in one and does a decent job of all three...

A lot more expensive than a dedicated monopod though.

Nicely done! Ditto on the Erik's question. How did you accomplish those rock solid shots with a monopod?

That monopod has feet! (that's cheating :))
:Drogar-Love(DBG): They fold up.... Trust me, for the price, you can't beat it. In that video, I shot all day. 64gbs of canon MXF and nobody bothered me once. Being able to adjust height on the fly with a mono is priceless!

I love it! Now I need to get one. I used a regular monopod, just had a hell of a time keeping it still...especially when zoomed in.

OH yeah, I'm really glad I didn't sell my AF100. Thought about selling it . But I can't think of another camera that would have had ALL the features for shooting at the equestrian park that the AF100 packed....LCD was used with waveforms on the whole time and I just viewed though the EVF with a nice clean image with peaking on. It was 105 degrees and the camera just didn't care. Come on AF200 with 422 10/bit. OR, Af250 with 28-200 (FF equivalent) built in lens and a lovely m4/3's chip.
