Hi everyone,

We just got the new HVX at DV Expo. At the Expo, I saw Samys displace the HVX and outputs the camera to a Sony PVM-14L5 in the HD mode. We have this monitor at our studio too but don't know how to get the video out. Do we need an optional card or something? Please advise! Thank you!

If you wish to see the footage straight from the camera on the monitor, then just use the component cable that came with the camera and hook it straight into the monitor.
If you wish to see the footage on the monitor from your NLE you will need a card in your computer that can output component video.

Thanks a lot for your responds!

I just want to see the footage directly from my camera to the monitor. However, when I hooked up through component out from my camera, I can only see the image on the monitor if I'm in the Standard Mode. When I switched to HD, I can't see the image on the monitor. Is is because the Sony PVM-14L5 is a SD monitor? If so, why Samys can do that? Is there a function in the camera we can output downconverted HD image? Thanks!

Go into the A/V in out set up menu on the camera and make sure you have the component out set to either 720 or 1080 depending on what format your footage is.
