Monitoring FCP timeline over Component

Does anyone know of a solution (including using some 3rd device, besides the HVX), for outputting the timeline from Final Cut Pro over Component a connection?

I've read you CAN'T do it (via firewire) using the camera's component outputs, if it's an HD timeline. Still unclear whether DV is supposed to work.

A portable 3rd device (i.e., not a PCI card) would be ideal (for laptop use).

Any leads would be a great help!

Thanks,
Carlos

Certainly... use a Matrox MXO for Component, SDI or DVI output. Otherwise, use a Kona or Decklink card that has analog component HD (and/or SDI) out.

You could use Firewire if you had a Panasonic HD1200A or HD1400 deck equipped with Firewire and an appropriate monitor configured to the deck.

Thanks Ned!

It looks like the Matrox box is the thing, since it is portable, so it can work for both my desktop and laptop.

What about the question on outputting a DV timeline over component using the HVX via firewire? Do you know if that is supposed to work? It only works for me over S-video, but before giving up I wanted to confirm that it's not supposed to work over component for DV either.

Thanks again.
