monitoring & color correction w/sLog

while i would not attribute the issue of saturation to this, i find that my own flanders monitor lacks saturation compared to the usual panasonic and sony field monitors. i've shot things where i had the impression that certain colors were barely discernable, only to see the finished piece with much more color than i'd seen in the field.

Hello All,

I'm going to test few setups with my S-Log 3D LUTs with Kodak and Fuji Film emulations and I'm looking on some daylight correct exposed raw footage files or correct lit test shoot with people to be able to experiment further with my post production LUTs that can be found here

I need few frames on a .mov format of the original RGB S-Log footage.

The ones that will help they will get for free a 3D LUT package for their DaVinci. I will assist in the order of first comes with valid files, first served...

Thanks in advance guys.

Please tell me why this wouldn't work. Can I set up the camera and my shot with S-Log off, get it the way I want exposure & color wise and then turn on the SLog and LUT and then record the image. Will I be getting a properly exposed SLog image to color in post?

When I was using Varicam with F-Rec and Viper with FilmStream I was getting the gray card correct exposure at 33-36% IRE while when I was shooting with V-Rec and VideoStream the grey card was on 45% IRE. Basically on all Log modes that I’m aware of, I was getting a slight increase of sensitivity…

Hope that I helped you a bit…

D10S,
If you are talking about turning sLog off to make color, lighting and composition decisions then turning it on for shooting that is OK, but you still need to set your exposure for SLog not for the f stop you had in 709 or whatever. I'm not sure yet if I need to alter my lighting concept for sLog.

So the exposure that I would set with SLog off should be adjusted when I turn SLog back on to record. If I didn't I assume the exposure would be dark, is that correct? Or could I leave the exposure the same?
