I am wondering how would you hook up a monitor to the computer so you can see the output of the video your editing. Its not like a monitor monitor its more like a TV Monitor.

Use your video camera to convert the Firewire output from your NLE to a Analog video signal you can send into your TV.
Note that this is only possible with SD video with the HVX.

You could use a Deck in place of the camera - for both the monitor passthrough, and as a deck! - by far the best & simplest way for DV editing.

The other option is to buy a Video Capture card and use it's Video outputs to drive your monitor (using a regular Video (display) card's S-video out doesn't count). Check with your NLE manufacturer for compatible cards.
