Hey Everyone,

My current Zacuto EVF Pro doesn't support the GH4 singnal of 1080p50/60 or 4k@25/30. I've been in contact with Zacuto about this problem and they won't provide us with a firmware update to fix this issue.
So, I'm about to sell my EVF and look for a new one.

The first thing that came into my mind was the SmallHD DP4. It does support 1080p50/60 but 4K@25/30 isn't listed. Therefor this thread, anyone knows or has experience with a monitor that does support those signals?

Thanks and merry Christmas to everyone!

Panasonic firmware upgrade in January will provide 1080 25p /30p
over HDMI, so you should be able to hang on to the zacuto.

But that's only when you record in 1080p25 aswel? I usually record in 1080p50. I guess the HDMI output will also be 1080p50 then?

The Odyssey7Q+ will accept 4K up to 30p or 1080p60 over HDMI as well as 4K or 1080p60 via either dual-link 3G-SDI or quad-link SDI. The GH4 can output the HDMI signal directly and the SDI versions using the YAGH base. The Odyssey7Q (not the Odyssey7Q+) can accept the SDI signals from the YAGH base. Both Odyssey monitor/recorders will convert either the 4K or the 1080 or any other incoming signal to a 1080p30 output in either SDI or HDMI that your viewfinder should be able to see. The Odyssey also offer higher quality recording that the internal capabilities of the camera as well as an excellent OLED monitor with image analysis tools for focus, color and exposure.

Thanks for your reply! I'm guessing I would have to spend more than $1000 for a monitor to support what I'm looking for.. Maybe the shogun is something to go for then? I've heard some better things about it than the Odyssey7Q+. Size and lght-weight is also important for me.

The Shogun will not convert your 4k signal to 1080p which makes your EVF dead. This makes me think twice about purchasing the Shogun.

Oh, thank for the tip! At the moment I'm trying to sell my Zacuto EVF. Because, having an Odyssey and an EVF attached to my rig is just too much. I love the small camera as it is, it's very versatile that way. What I sometimes do is just attach the eyecup of the EVF with a magic arm to the flipscreen of the GH4. But it doesn't cover it entirely and it's kinda unhandy when you want to turn your screen.
