monitor solution for GH1 (crane/jib)

A couple of months ago I googled it, I was looking for a system for distance monitoring.

Basically, a small camera as LCD viewfinder, coupled to the camera LCD, wired as much as possible for crane use.

The smartass of my brother said to me it is a common device for photography but expensive. Something around $500. He is photographer.

Now that I'm buying a GH1, that device came my mind for crane use with GH1 but my brother has no idea who sells it.

Any idea?

There's no adapter for GH1 though, only for 5D Mark II / 1D Mark IV among many others such as D90 etc, but you can always try to ask to the manufacturer. They say the S2 Type C fits on "most 35mm AF SLR cameras", so who knows? It would really be an useful add-on.
If the monitor accepts the video cables that are supplied with the 7D (the site says it does..), then it should work fine with the video out cables supplied with the GH1.

by the way i've seen that zigview thing on ebay for like 150$ and no one bought it. check around you can get it much cheaper than 500$ or whatever it was you said

I've asked the manufacturer about GH1 compatibility but they haven't responded yet.
ah man..please let us know if/when they do because that thing will freakin fly off the shelves i promise you. tell them they have thousands of rabid gh1 users just waiting for a solution to our no hdmi live out problem

edit: I suppose I should also ask, what sort of resolution is the gh1 viewfinder rated at? is it good enough to pull focus with if we were to have a solution like the zigview device?

I emailed them must be over 6 months ago and got no reply. Couldnt the zig just be gaffered on some how. Ive seen it used on an old film camera that I dont think it was intended for.

I dont think the Zig would work. A lot of real DSLR's have removable eyepieces, and this seems to be taking advantage of that. You'd need a fancy bracket of some sort to keep it on.

The EVF is a higher res then the LCD.

hmm I guess perhaps with major modifications of the expert variety it could be rigged. not just the ol' rubber band and string method

People, a pal just gave me this link.

The price is better but I have no idea how it's supposed to work. The GH1 eyepiece can be removed with a couple of screws it that's where it gets it's feed from, so I suppose something could be cobbled up without overwhelming difficulty.
Here is @ manufacturer:

All this devices except the Zigview needs the video out jack and are not useful for GH1, the way to go is modding the Zigview to stay in place on the GH1 EVF.

The Zigview is not necessarily the only one. The mod, yes. The whole concept is there.

Generally such things are available for cheap and are intended to watch for babies, having camera, wireless connection and low-res small lcd on other side.

It depends. There's a crescent interest on these devices from professional still photography to other degrees, especially when used now as HDSLR devices in the pure media convergence age we live. Fed by a recent hacker who has elevated a consumer camera to the EUR 103.000 level (F900) of just a few years ago ;-)
