I am using the Dell 2405 monitor as a Preview monitor. The quality seems to be exceptional when I have my camera hooked up to it and playback footage, but when I use it as a Preview monitor out of my editing system (FCP 5.0.4) the images are poor. The blacks have a lot of noise and I see lots of deinterlacing looking footage.
I have the monitor set at its highest setting and like I was saying, I don't think there is a problem with the monitor because when I hook my HVX200 camera up to it, the images are sweet!
I considered buying a regular HD television monitor from Circuit City, but the 1000:1 Ratio and the price on the Dell was as good as any out there. I already was using the 2405 as my main monitor, so I figured I would get a second one to compliment as the Preview Monitor and get rid of my little $120 19" Sanyo. But honestly, I think I like the picture on the Sanyo better, how is that possible?
thanks,
epp
