Monitor Help?

I am trying to get my portable dvd player to work as a field monitor but when I hook it to the dvx the picture is jumbled. Any suggestions? The player works fine as a dvd player and has AV in/out.

could be the ntsc/pal compatibility issue.

I don't think so but I'm not familiar with that issue. All the equipment has been purchased in the USA. Thanks for the help.

describe "jumbled." can you take a digital photo of the effect?

If your horitzontal and vertical hold went bonkers at the same time that would describe it. I can't get a grab of it unles I photograph it with my digital camera. I could do that I suppose.
