would this work alright for a monitor other than the computer screen. yea it small but it would work great for me since 1 its is smaller (im going to be living in a tour bus for a few month and need something compact, and 2 i already got 1...

Thanks

Depends on how good your eyes are. It would give me a fit trying to edit with any NLE on that, but I guess it could be done. If you have one, give it a try.

whats an NLE and would it work better as something else... if im working on a mac laptop other than the computer screen i should be previewing on something else what would work good and not be too big...

Thanks

NLE = Non-Linear Editor. That would be your editing software, such as Final Cut Pro.

External monitors are great, but should be color-accurate and user-adjustable. The monitor you linked is great for proving that the video is indeed there, but is not good for color correction. (By the way, this will have to be connected to your DVX, which will have to be connected to the computer.) It'll serve in a pich, just don't expect miracles.

If you want compact and color-accurate, check eBay for a good deal on a used Sony PVM-9L2. Stellar field monitor, offers underscan and 16:9, as well as essential color calibration tools to make sure that you're seeing an accurate image.

I was thinking of getting some sort of bi-directional video converter so i didnt have to use my camera as the converter...

Thanks
