FS7: Monitor for FS7

Any recommendations for a monitor for an FS7 - I've had issues - I can't get my Small HD DP4 to work over HDMI at all with it, or a Black Pearl Flysight that I use with my drone, but HDMI works because I can get a signal straight into my TV over HDMI so I know it's not a cable issue.

Don't really have the funds for an Odyssey right now but want a decent 5- 7" monitor that can work over SDI and/or HDMI and take the built in MLuts.

Any advice ?

cheers

Matt

HDMI comes in a variety of flavors, and not all HDMI devices can read/display all HDMI flavors. Earlier pro monitors with HDMI frequently only supported 1080i60 (30 frames a second, interlace). Switching to either a progressive output and/or a 23.98 would basically kill the display.

Your Small DP may only accept 1080i60, while your TV may accept progressive HDMI.

You can test this - switch your FS7 to a 1080i59.94 XDCAM422 setting. Then double verify that the hdmi output is also 1080i. I expect this will get you image on your monitor.

Mind you - while doing this test might give you some clarity, it doesn't necessarily fix your problem - not all FS7 modes let you put out 1080i HDMI, particularly if you also need SDI. But it's worth checking the compatibility.

I can warmly recommend the Odyssey 7. Ive had the 7Q, and i really miss the monitor functions, so i plan to add a 7 to my equipment list shortly.

However, i tried to connect my Zacuto Z-finder Pro EVF to my FS7 but could not get a signal. Anyone knows what settings is needed?

IMO defo get SDi and Lut monitor.

Luts on the camera itself is pants.

The 502 is OK (I have it) but the Video Devices stuff might be more robust/Better

I would not go to 7 in unless you feel a need to record.
