Monitor connected to HVX

Okay so what I'm trying to do is shoot onto a Firestore FS-100 while having an external monitor at the same time. Because the shooting is going to be moving around a lot we will be offloading onto a laptop (preferably MacBook Pro, but am open to suggestions, cheaper the better). Is it possible to use the MBP as a video assist while simultaneously shooting onto the FS-100? If not, is there another monitor I could use? Looking for around 15-20", possibly one of the Apple Cinema displays. Just wondering about things like refresh rate and that sort of thing. Would LCD be a suitable monitor? CRT seems a little to big and heavy to have to lug around the whole time.

Any ideas?

you could use something like d v monitor or scopebox to do that.
or you can get a small 7 in monitor like the varizoom to save money or go with the marshall for HD .
hope that helps

That's great thanks. Scopebox looks quite good, but surely I would need to connect that to the computer via firewire? But I also need to connect the FS-100 via firewire? Any way to do both? Can I do Camera --> FS-100 --> MBP?

OK I downloaded Scopebox, and it's fantastic. Really great piece of software there. The only problem is the same problem I experienced with HD Log. I have an HVX200 and when set to tape mode and shooting in SD the software works fine. The camera is connected fire 1394, but as soon as I go to P2 and shoot in HD the image becomes scrambled and blocky. Doesn't seem to make much sense to me, maybe a codec problem? On HD Log they say to download the HDCPro70 or whatever it's called and I've done that and moved the Quicktime component out of the folder and yet it still doesn't work. Could it be a lead problem?

jimmyb248, if I'm not mistaken, I believe you can do all this with Serious Magic's HD Rack, and use your MBP as a monitor/recorder as well. Hope this helps.

Is it also possible to use an HDTV monitor to view / color correct, etc . ? If so, any recommendations for the least expensive but workable HDTV's ?
