Here is a little film from last winter. That was not always easy because of the cold, some pan at - 35° Celsius ( plus wind factor ) were not as smooth as I was thinking without the little the use of the LCD and the viewfinder quit not accurate. :undecided:

Anyway, we always learn by experience.

Majestic, Gorgeous, breathtaking. The sunlight streaming through the clouds and dancing over the snow is too beautiful for words. Great job. Please tell us your settings.

Looks great Shadow. You should get some 2nd unit work. Wish I lived near somewhere that pretty. I loved the first shot. Although those Actors are a bit wooden...sorry
J.P.

Thanks Raptor3400, nothing really special in the settings, everything was shooting in 24P normal letterbox, I just got the upgrade to FCpro Hd from FCE, so from now I will be shooting 24P advance. :) In most of the shots, I used B+W filters Polarized, KR 1.5 or 3 and KB 1.5.

and jpbankesmercer

And jpbankesmercer, yes I really want to do something with people now, I'm a fashion photographer, so I think I need to shoot some skin now. :) Althought, I like to shoot nature and we don't know for how long we will be able to shoot "her" from now.

If you havesome second unit work for me, any time. :)

That looked really good. The sky looked so blue and the snow never looked blown out. Good job man.

Beautiful... You did your job I wanted to see the whole thing... I liked the music , shots , and the editing went very smooth ...good job!

nice. man it looks cold. i shoot a lot in winter myself and know how hard it is to even keep the lens clean at times.
what tripod do you use. there were several shots with strong winds (fog passing by fast) and the pans were still nice and smooth. I use the Manfrotto 501 and sometimes these gusts disturb my pans.

I visited your web site: http://homepage.mac.com/lombre/PhotoAlbum4.html and found your H2o grabs. They look great. All you needed was a young boy in some blue jean overalls with a fishing pole, some vivid lures, and you've got the beginings of a great short. Inspirational scenery. I felt very relaxed exersizing my scenses. You know how to get great footage, now just find a script, and some good actors. High hopes for you.

Thanks guys,

Salut Ronik, did you shoot a lot last winter, I know you did some snowboard shootings. A lot of my footagte was done when I went to do some snowboard too, I always keep a day for shooting, not easy when the conditions are just so good, :) but it's worth it. We never had enough member for a first Montréal meeting. :embarasse

Drew 599, you see how good filters help to achieve nice image.

seattlegood, always place for improvement.

Alpi69, I use the 503 head with lightweight Manfrotto 755B legs in the mountains. The major problem with the wind is that you can't use the french flag. But the temperature is the most difficult part, in the cold you can't use the LCD and the viewfinder is not acurate too, also you have to use gloves.

Kevin, it's what I'm working on, find a good script and put a team together for a short movie, but I need to find a the project who inspire me.

Shadow,

Your skills are increasing :)

I really liked this one. Be careful with leaving the OIS on when the camera is on a tripod, it gives a subtle shifting affect. This may not have been the case with you but some of the shots looked like that may have been the case.

Any birds or animals in your area? It would be nice to break the footage up with something moving (aside from the snow). I really like the barrenness of the landscape and your choice of music was nice.

In general, I would cut the intro a little, it lingers a little too long for my liking. Particularly in the context of a short film like this.

Keep shooting, it's paying off

Bonjour Disjecta, long time without we heard from you, I'm happy you are back and have a chance to look at your wonderfull work again.

i didn't shoot as much as I wanted last winter, but I was pretty lucky with the weather.

OIS, I don't think this have been the case except may be for one shot, but when it is really cold, my fluid head is not as smooth as it is in normal weather.

Any birds or animal in your area ? Ha! Ha! :) Yes of course, but it seem I'm not as lucky as you are for encounter with animal and wildlife. :) with the exception of this one:

I wanted to keep the entire piece of music, so I had to kept everything longer.

Many thanks and I'm waiting to see your next masterpiece.

Thanks rlm7189, :) no it's my assistant, a little Bouvier des Flandres of 135 pounds. When I'm shooting he keep an eye on my equipments. :cheesy:

Hey shadow, that was really great, I have a quick questiopn. How did you handle the white balance? Did you go auto or did you manual set it? If so did you use any type of WB product in specific or just a card/paper sheet?

Hi filmcraft, I'm coming from photography background, so for me I treat video as if it was film; 5500 K or 3200 K, filters and sometime I do balance with my own white card which I balance with Lee filters to obtain the color balance I want.
