Moire on the F3?

I did a shoot with an actress sitting on a director's chair. Shot with the Sony lens with a 50mm at 4.0. The fabric that was textured on the chair showed major moire patterns dancing all over. I refocused closer to the actress' nose and the moire went away, but that's not a fix... that was compromise.

I have the RGB S-log and Gemini 444 and still showing up with moire.

I'm not sure if it's just me.

I didn't upgrade to the latest firmware... would that fix the problem?

You'd figure a S35 camera shouldn't be like this even at how much it cost.

Answers? or frustrations?

I always run the detail setting on off and have personally never seen any moire, not saying it cant happen, just I've never seen it.

Yes I also recommend turning the detail setting off, especially with s-log. You can always sharpen in post and have the option to sharpen only one portion of the image.

I'll see if I can release the clip... most likely not. But thanks for the input. Sometimes it makes you wonder on the stuff that's been problematic for such a long time and still has them in today's technology. Thanks again all!

The other thing is that moire is produced by a harmonic of frequencies of the image pattern on the sensor pattern. It affects all cameras to some degree. Simply moving in or out a couple feet usually cures it because it changes the frequency of the pattern in the image.
